This is something fun I first saw posted on George Takei’s Facebook page.

My three words were “love”, “money”, and “freedom” – what were yours?

Love, money and GHUMOURLOY. Sadly, all three make sense.

I just wanted to say I really like your blog. I grew up with a Hindu father, a “fallen” Catholic mother who preferred to be Buddhist, went to Jewish pre-school, and have best friends of our family – really my extended family in all but blood – who are devout, observant Muslims.

Growing up, I attended more events at the musjid than anything else. I went to first Koran readings, Eid celebrations, weddings, funerals, everything. In some ways, I know more about Islam than any other religion I’ve been exposed to.

I find myself extremely angry very often at the horrible misconceptions and prejudices of people against Islam. Part of me (Allah forgive me!) seriously enjoys verbally smacking them down with the truth and seeing their tiny brains explode from knowledge. Part of me just gets sadder.

I wish people would stop being stupid about differences. God is God. Love is love. And clean water, vaccinations, education and economic opportunities are far more worth fighting for than what building you worship God in.
